(Catechism of the Catholic Church no. 1547) The ministerial or hierarchical priesthood of bishops and priests, and the common priesthood of all the faithful participate, "each in its own proper way, in the one priesthood of Christ." While being "ordered one to another," they differ essentially. In what sense? While the common priesthood of the faithful is exercised by the unfolding of baptismal grace --a life of faith, hope, and charity, a life according to the Spirit--, the ministerial priesthood is at the service of the common priesthood. It is directed at the unfolding of the baptismal grace of all Christians. The ministerial priesthood is a means by which Christ unceasingly builds up and leads his Church. Canonized Saints: Models of Holiness Five Steps in the Canonization of a Saint Path A – Martyrs: Their death witnessed to their faith. No miracles needed. Step 1: Local Diocese Petitions the Vatican Step 4: Blessed A person is deemed to be interceding on our behalf, as he or she enjoys the beatific vision of God in heaven. Step 3: Venerable The Vatican declares that the person lived a life of heroic virtue. Path B - Confessors: Their lives witnessed to their faith. One miracle needed. Step 5: Saint The Pope decrees a person to be a saint normally after at least on miracle for martyrs or a second a second one for confessors. Five Steps for a Good Confession 1. Examine your conscience. 2. Be sincerely sorry for your sins. 3. Confess your sins. 4. Resolve to amend your life. 5.
