Presentation transcript:

Did you know that plastic things, which are thrown away and dumped in landfill sites, will never rot away? Did you know that plastic makes up 11% of household waste? Did you know that it is more difficult to recycle plastics than other materials? This is because there are different types of Plastic. Each type needs to be recycled separately.

Did you know that plastic cannot be recycled everywhere at the moment? – inyourarea.html Because plastic is used so much we should all try to reduce the amount of plastic we buy. It would also help if we tried to re-use the plastic we have in our homes as much as possible. We produce and use 20 times more plastic today that we did 50 years ago.

It is important that we try to use everyday items made from recycled plastic. This includes bin liners, garden furniture, CD cases and even fleece jackets! A great effort has been made to reduce the amount of plastic used to make things, for example, yogurt pots have been reduced in weight from 12g to 5g in order to use less plastic.
