WHAT? Online shopping or online retailing is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet using a web browser. A shift from real time market to digital market. Alternative names are: e-Commerce, e-shop, e-store, Internet shop, web-shop, web-store, online store, and virtual store.

WHEN? In 1990 Tim Berners-Lee a British scientist working at CERN laboratory wrote the first web browser WWW which then changed most research processes and ways of businesses seeing a whole new market to evolve 1994 a company called Netscape released a browser, enabling anyone to type a name in the Navigator browser and visit a webpage Then transactions and business started happening over the web urging every company to have a “.com”. To address security issues Netscape 1.0 introduced SSL encryption (Secure Sockets Layer ), for secure transaction

WHY An online shop allows people to shop online rather than them going to an actual shopping center the process is called business-to-consumer (B2C) online shopping. In the case where a business buys from another business, the process is called business-to-business (B2B) online shopping.

WHERE? The largest of these online retailing corporations are eBay and Amazon.com, both based in the United States.

WHO? A successful web store is not just a good looking website. Understanding the customer's wants and needs is essential. Customer needs and expectations are not the same for all customers. Age, gender, experience and culture are all important factors.

WHO? It is easier to lose a customer than to gain one. Even a "top-rated" website will not succeed if the organization fails to practice common etiquette

CLICK STREAM A clickstream is the recording of the parts of the screen a computer user clicks on while web browsing or using another software application.. Clickstream data of online stores contains information useful for understanding the effectiveness of marketing and merchandising efforts,

HOW Online customers must have access to the Internet and a valid method of payment in order to complete a transaction Consumers find a product of interest by visiting the website of the retailer directly or by searching among alternative vendors using a shopping search engine.
