Think About These Questions Which do you hear more of? –Complaints about jobs? –Love of jobs? How can you make sure –you will be happy? –your career choice is right for you?

The Holland Code can Help This presentation will help you –examine yourself –find your code –use your code to select compatible career choices select compatible jobs

Pre-Test Record your answers on handout –What career field would be right for you? –What kind of job would you like?

The Holland Code Divides people into 6 types Realistic Investigative Social Enterprising Conventional Artistic Clue: Note The Underlined letter of each type

Realistic Are Physically Strong Tend to be Mechanically and athletically inclined Like to build things with tools Like the outdoors Have weak verbal and interpersonal skills

Investigative Are Scientific Get wrapped up in their work Think through problems Hate repetitive activities Buy telescopes, calculators, electronic equipment Strong need to understand the world
