Why HSE in an Organization For two basic purposes Proactive purpose Reactive purpose Proactive purposes: Best HSE practices in organization Develop a healthy and safe working culture Taking positive action before things go wrong Avoiding or reducing the risk of injury, ill-health and accident Preventive measures against the anticipated hazards Awareness activities Why HSE: HSE in an organization can do two basic activities in a broad sense. Proactive Reactive In proactive purposes main emphasis would be given to all awareness and preventive activities and to set up all measures for maintaining an optimal level of health and medical fitness among the employees It also gives emphasis to some specific preventive measures. 2

Precaution in case of fire 2. Fencing of machinery 3. Work on or near machinery in motion 4. Employment of young persons on dangerous machines 5. Protection of eyes 6. Explosive or inflammable dust, gas 7. Pressure plant 8. Floor, stumps, opening in floor Why HSE: HSE in an organization can do two basic activities in a broad sense. First aid appliances: 1 for 150 employees 1 Dispensary or clinic for 500 employees 3. Canteens: 1 canteen for 250 or more employees 4. Shelters or rest room: > 100 employees 5.
