What is your view of the Earth? See how different scales affect what can be seen on a map. Be able to identify the Earth’s major continents and oceans. Know what a map projection is and how projections alter our views of the Earth. By the end of this section, you will: What is your view of the Earth?

Where in the world? Maps can be extremely useful at helping us identify, and become familiar with, the rest of the world. We can visualize how places look even though they are on the opposite side of the Earth. We can learn other details about specific countries, such as their capital cities, climate and population. We can learn about continents, oceans and relief features. How much do you know about the rest of the world?
