West Virginia Division of Surveillance and Disease Control 4 Example of Data Usage (#1) Performance Measure from the Comprehensive STD Prevention System Grant CSPS MLS1 – Proportion of female admittees to large juvenile detention facilities that were tested for chlamydia (this measure is established by the CDC)

West Virginia Division of Surveillance and Disease Control 5 Example of Data Usage (#1 con’t) Performance Measure Goal Goals – West Virginia has historically reported on admittees to the Tiger Morton Juvenile Center, the Donald R. Kuhn Juvenile Diagnostic and Detention Center, and the Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center. These facilities are again the basis for this year’s Performance Measure. Goals are 0.95 for each facility. (The goal is established by our Program.)

West Virginia Division of Surveillance and Disease Control 6 Example of Data Usage (#1 con’t) Performance Levels Performance levels – The performance level for each facility during FH 2008 is as follows: Tiger Morton – Out of 37 female admittees, 21 were tested, for a proportion of Donald Kuhn – Out of 24 female admittees, 9 were tested, for a proportion of (Eleven specimens were submitted by this facility, but two were unsatisfactory and could not be tested.) Chick Buckbee – Out of 20 female admittees, 13 were tested, for a proportion of 0.65.

West Virginia Division of Surveillance and Disease Control 7 Example of Data Usage (#2) Clinical and Partner Services Objective from Infertility Prevention Project Grant Objective #7 – By December 31, 2008, each of the 11 juvenile correctional facilities will screen at least 50 inmates for gonorrhea and chlamydia infections using urine-based screening through the West Virginia Office of Laboratory Services.
