Illinois Capital: Springfield Nickname: Prairie State State symbols Bird: cardinal Tree: white oak Flower: violet Illinois is a leading producer of soybeans, corn, and hogs. Other agricultural commodities include cattle, wheat, oats, sorghum, and hay.

Indiana Capital: Indianapolis Nickname: Hoosier State State symbols Bird: cardinal Tree: tulip tree Flower: peony The state is a leader in agriculture with corn the principal crop. Hogs, soybeans, wheat, oats, rye, tomatoes, onions, and poultry .

Iowa Capital: Des Moines Nickname: Hawkeye State State symbols Bird: eastern goldfinch Tree: none Flower: wild rose Iowa leads the nation in all corn, soybean, and comes in third in total livestock sales.
