Odette – Technology Committee Odette International Ltd.

Six main responsibilities are covered by the Odette TC: 1. Managing the technologies wich support Odette Recommendations (including evaluation of new technologies). 2. Building and maintaining B2B transaction sets (messages) that are coherent with the selected technologies. 3. Developing security guidelines for file transfer and B2B communication 4. Co-ordinating with other standardasition bodies to ensure that Odette‘s technological choices are coherent with those of other industry associations and sectors. 5. Supporting implementation of the technologies and transaction sets across European automotive industry and beyond. 6. Provide a platform to co-ordinate the activities of the major stakeholders in European automotive industry and to facilitate the relations linked to the B2B communication between OEMs and their trading partners. Odette International Ltd. TC Scope

 The following slides reflect the state of affairs as of June 2012 and will be revised regularely Odette International Ltd.

Technologies supporting Odette Recommendations include:  Business Process and Data Modelling (UML, CCTS)  Message Syntax (EDIFACT, XML)  Message Assembly & Enveloping (UN/CEFACT)  File Transfer Protocols (OFTP1, OFTP2, WebServices)  Networks (Public Internet, VPN, VANs)  B2B Security (Encryption/Digital Certificates)  Automatic identification (1D bar codes, 2D codes such as data matrix code, RFID …) Odette International Ltd. Process and Data Modelling  TC is guardian of the master Joint Automotive Data Model (JADM) and responsible for its content and maintenance on behalf of Odette and JAIF  Process and Data Modelling is the basis for building B2B transaction sets (messages)  Understanding and using Process and Data Modelling (based on UML and CCTS) is therefore a key issue for the TC Odette International Ltd. TC Scope

Message Assembly and Enveloping  Knowledge of UN/EDIFACT and XML Syntax is a key issue for the TC  There is still no fixed UN/CEFACT standard for Assembly and Enveloping of XML Messages available  Odette proposes to use UN/EDIFACT and XML as messages syntax. Odette International Ltd. TC Scope

File Transfer Protocols  File Transfer Protocols are required in order to exchange files with trading partners.  Odette created its own FTP in the 1980s and has enhanced it in several ways over the past nearly 30 years.  A new version OFTP2 that meets the security requirements of file transfer via the public internet has been developed and is now replacing the older versions of OFTP  As an emerging technology for process automation and B2B data transfer WebServices are to be analysed and evaluated  TC members should have a good knowledge of file transfer protocols  The TC is responsible for monitoring the implementation and driving the improvement of file transfer protocols and related specifications. Odette International Ltd. TC Scope

B2B Security (Encryption/Digital signature/Certificates)  Encryption and the use of digital certificates is a key technology for guaranteeing secure data exchange over public networks  Management of digital certificates, their use in file transfer protocols and B2B connections became a constant task for B2B communication professionals  TC members therefore need to have sufficient knowledge of the different security tools and technologies (encryption, digital certificates) in order to manage projects in this area. Odette International Ltd. TC Scope

RFID  RFID is a technology which facilitates further automation in logistics supply chains. The integration of RFID based processes and data in the existing B2B communication is a challenge for the whole industry. The TC has to monitor the emergence and adoption of RFID technologies and to adapt data exchange standards to cope with the new requirements, where necessary. Odette International Ltd. TC Scope

 OFTP2 support ▪ OFTP2 support group for technical questions and clarifications ▪ OSCAR system for station Ids (managed by CO) ▪ Odette CA for security certificates (managed by CO) Odette International Ltd. Current Tasks and Activities

 EDIFACT ▪ ORDERS – order message for non-production materials ▪ Inventory messages – VMI and CMI processes are not reflected in the existing message scenarion and need to be revised  Auto-gration ▪ Messages for SMEs Odette International Ltd. Message Development
