Blessed John Henry Newman Parish “Heart Speaks to Heart” WELCOME to the BJHN Parish BBQ Sunday 18 th September St. James the Great, Downley 18/09/ Blessed John Henry Newman Parish BBQ

Opening Prayer We thank you heavenly Father for gathering us together this evening to do your work. We pray that your Holy Spirit may guide us in our discussions, that what is said or heard by any of us may be received as it was intended, even if it does not come out correctly or may be misunderstood. We pray for our new parish that together we may support each other, and come into a deeper relationship with you as well as be a light to the people of High Wycombe and a witness of Christ's presence among us. We pray that we may have sensitivity and understanding to help those who are troubled in this time of change and uncertainty, that together we may build up this parish and grow in faith and love and respect for each others dignity as a person. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. 18/09/2011Blessed John Henry Newman - Parish BBQ2

18/09/2011Blessed John Henry Newman - Parish BBQ17 God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission; I never may know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. Somehow I am necessary for His purposes, as necessary in my place as an Archangel in his; if, indeed, I fail, He can raise another, as He could make the stones children of Abraham. Yet I have a part in this great work; I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good, I shall do His work; I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it, if I do but keep His commandments and serve Him in my calling.
