ON HOLY THURSDAY IN THE EVENING AT CHURCH WE WATCH A REPRESENTATION OF CHRIST’S CRUCIFIXION AND THE PRIEST READS THE GOSPELS. IN THE MORNING THE HOUSEWIVES DYE THE EGGS RED BECAUSE OF THE BLOOD CHRIST SHED ON THE CROSS.

On Good Friday young girls and women decorate the Bier-Epitaph (Christ’s tomb) with flowers and at night after the church service there is the Epitaph procession around the village or town and all the people follow it and chant hymns.

On Holy Saturday at midnight when the priest chants that “Christ Is Risen”, there are a lot of fireworks and firecrackers and then we go home and eat a traditional soup and Easter buns and knock red eggs together. On Easter Sunday we also have lunch with friends and relatives. We eat stuffed lamb or lamb on the spit. …and we all wish you “And next year,too!”
