Take aways Determine what STUFF can be donated. –Usable vs Scrap excess items. –How can usable excess items be used. Determine who can use the STUFF. Develop a procedure that the company deems acceptable for donations that benefits the community.

What is excess? Excess - property that is in excess of the amounts needed to complete current and/or projected taskings, projects or programs, “excess” is synonymous with “surplus.”

Recommended Procedure

 Screen internally for reuse.  Determine best fit donee for item(s).  Obtain letter from Donee (if first time donating to that organization).  Arrange site visit to determine if item is usable by organization.

 Arrange pick up time.  Arrange internal help if needed.  Create pick up documentation.  Have Donee and non-property employee witness donation and sign documentation.
