Friern Barnet London England St. John’s CE School’

St. John’s School, London and our partners in France, Sweden, Italy, Germany and Ireland: a new friendship begins ………. We look forward to getting to know each other. It was great that you were able to visit our school.

Our School St. John’s Church of England School, Friern Barnet, London St. John’s has 262 children and 17 teachers. Another 25 people work at the school – they include teaching assistants, music teachers, cooks, cleaners, secretaries and playtime supervisors. The youngest children are 3 and the oldest are 11.

Every class has 1 teacher and at least 1 teaching assistant. Every day we learn maths and English. We also enjoy lots of other exciting lessons too. We learn to use computers, we do lots of sport – we have football, netball, rugby, athletics and a swimming team; we do history, geography, art, music, technology, French or Italian, science and religious education.

We have our own allotment to grow our own healthy food and we have a small swimming pool. We think we are very lucky. Good food and exercise is important to us. It is spring and we are planting seeds on our allotment. We grow fruit, vegetables and flowers. We are very lucky – we have our own swimming pool. We can swim every week – it’s great fun!

Use our imagination Use the computer Express our creativity Build with our tools Draw pictures and write our names Children in the nursery are aged 3 and 4. Most stay for half a day but some children stay from 8.50 to They are encouraged to follow their interests while they learn.

The children in Reception are aged between 4-5 years old. They stay in school from 8.50 to 3.20 every day. They are able to access a variety of exciting activities during their school day. Reception Class

In Year 1 children are aged 5 and 6 In literacy we have been having lots of fun acting out stories.

Year 2 In Year 2 we go on many school trips. This is us last year at Southend as part of our seaside project. Our Creative Curriculum topics this year include The Great Fire of London and Florence Nightingale. We love listening to stories. Here during class assembly, we have just heard the story of the ‘Wise and Foolish Man’ and then discussed how we can make ‘right and wrong choices in life.

have the opportunity to learn and play the ukulele. We enjoy all of our lessons and have plenty of school trips. We cover many exciting and wonderful topics in our Creative Curriculum including Rise of the Robots, The Tudors and The Rainforest.

Our class year 6 is amazing because we get to go on loads of fun and adventurous trips such as: Chessington, France and lots more. We also have a lot of responsibilities, which we sensibly follow. We love to help each other and we are great role models to the younger years.
