HOLOGRAPHIC ROJECTION TECHNOLOGY PRESENTED BY- S.VIGNESHWAR 8124164154

WHAT IS HOLOGRAPHY? Holography (from the Greek, whole + write) is the science of producing holograms It is an advanced form of photography that allows an image to be recorded in three dimensions. The technique of holography can also be used to optically store, retrieve, and process information.

HOLOGRAPHIC PROPERTIES If you look at these holograms from different angles, you see objects from different perspectives, just like you would if you were looking at a real object They usually just look like sparkly pictures or smears of color If you cut one in half, each half contains whole views of the entire holographic image

HISTORY Dennis Gabor - Father of Holography and Holographic Technologies Dennis wrote a paper in 1948 that has become the foundation of modern Holography. The most interesting thing about all this is that laser light had not even been invented yet, when he wrote his paper

Holography is a two-step process. PRINCIPLE Holography is a two-step process. First step is the recording of hologram where the object is transformed into a photographic record. The second step is the reconstruction in which the hologram is transformed into the image.

A Hologram is the result of interference occurring between two waves, an object beam which is the light scattered off the object & a coherent background, the reference beam, which is the light scattered off the object & a coherent background, the reference beam , which is the light reaching the photographic plate directly.

Photography vs. Holography Conventional photography 2-d dimension of a 3-d scene (object). Film sensitive only to intensity distribution. Photograph lacks depth perception.

Photography vs. Holography Hologram: Converts phase information into amplitude information (in-phase - maximum amplitude, out-of-phase – minimum amplitude). Interfere wavefront of light from object beam with a reference wave. The hologram is a complex interference pattern . It’s a kind of diffraction grating. If you tear a hologram in half, you can still see the whole image in each piece. The same is true with smaller and smaller pieces.
