When people celebrate Diwali? Diwali happens in October or November depending on the Lunar Calendar. It is a five day festival and People celebrate each day in a special way. Day one Hindu offers sweets to Yama Raj (Lord of death) lights and fire crackers and lamps are kept burning throughout the night.
