Semicurlz and the Three Crazy Koalas By Jack, Holly, Jordan, Tasmin and Nicholas St Andrew’s Anglican College, Peregian Springs, Australia.

Once upon a time… Semicurlz was walkin’ through the scrub, when she saw Kanga hoppin’ round. “Wonder where he’s hoppin’ to?” she thought as she struggled to keep up with his pace. As she was following him, Semicurlz found that she was starvin, and thought about turnin’ back.

Just as she was about to turn back, Semicurlz caught sight of an ol’ wooden shack, surrounded by tall gummies, and could smell snags, damper and gumnut stew coming from inside, so she decided to check it out. As Semicurlz peeked inside, she saw three bowls complete with snags, damper and gumnut stew. As she was starvin’, she thought she may as well go in and have a bite to eat since there wasn’t anyone inside. She opened the door, walked inside and took a bite of the biggest snag, She yelped, it was sizzlin’ hot! So she tried the medium-sized bowl. It was freezin’! Then she tried the tiniest bowl, and it was just right, so she gobbled it all up. Then she sculled a glass of billy tea.

She was a bit tired, so she sat down on the biggest chair. It was way too hard! Then she tried the medium-sized chair. It was too soft! So she tried the tiniest chair. It splintered right under her! She looked at the splintered remains of the chair and saw heaps of little white termites crawlin’ out. She decided that she wanted to lie down a bit and have a nap, so she went upstairs.

She looked around and saw three beds. She went over and lay on the biggest bed. It was too hard. So she tried the medium-sized bed. It was way too soft! So she tried the tiniest bed, and it was just right, so she hit the sack.

As she was sleepin’, the three crazy koalas came back from a dip in the billabong, and were looking forward to their meals. When they got home, baby koala was the first to notice the bowls. “Mummy, where’s our thnags? Said baby koala. ‘I don’t know” said Mummy Koala. All the snags had a few bites taken out of them, except baby’s one’s which were all gone. “Hey, someone’s plonked themselves down on my chair!” growled Daddy Koala. “Same here”said Mummy Koala. “And thumone’th that on MY chair, and they’ve broken it to peithes! The three koalas were very angry, and went upstairs to see if anything else had been touched. “Someone’s been sleepin’ in my bed!” said daddy Koala. “And someone’s been sleepin’ in MY bed!” said Mummy Koala. “Thumwone’th been thleepin’ in MY bed, and they’re thtill there!” said Baby Koala. “Oi, who do you think you are, eatin’ our snags, breakin’ our chairs and sleepin’ in our beds?” said Daddy Koala. Semicurlz woke up with a start, looked, freaked out and jumped out the window. “And don’t you ever come back, y’hear?” yelled Daddy Koala after her. And from that day on, Semicurlz never followed Kanga again.
