Progress Land Company – Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods - Available Today!

In Ridgewood – our Kansas City Neighborhood - a meandering street pattern keeps the number of intersections to a minimum and speeds under control. The streets are designed to control speed without having to resort to speed bumps or patterns that are difficult to drive through. A central traffic corridor adds a focal point to the neighborhood as well as distributing traffic for the various individual areas of housing. There is a lack of four-way intersections which are inherently more dangerous than three-way “tee” intersections.

Progress Land Company – Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods - Available Today! The typical cookie-cutter subdivision places all homes like solders standing attention. This monotonous placement of housing is done for only one reason, it’s easy and cheap to construct. Too bad today’s subdivisions are built with such little attention to detail. Ridgewood harnesses the computational and design power of today’s software to expand beyond the box. Ridgewood is a Coved design neighborhood where all homes settings are at premium locations, where each resident walks out onto a park-like setting that no other neighborhood in the region offers. The walking connectivity (shown in blue) along the huge fluid setbacks (shown in darker green) allows everyone to enjoy 19 acres of social front yards.

Progress Land Company – Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods - Available Today! To compliment the 19 acres of coved front yards, we have also provided an additional 12.4 acres of parks and commons – a total of over 31 acres of open space. This system allows connecting neighbors while providing a wide variety of different types of open space also unique to the region. Connected open space is promoted in virtually every publication on good urban design, yet the lots available to builders in the Ridgewood region continue to be based solely on the ordinance minimums. Our Ridgewood delivers beyond the minimums to create a neighborhood – not just another subdivision. Furthermore, we are providing a lifecycle community with many forms of housing allowing residents to stay within Ridgewood as their income and life needs change.

Progress Land Company – Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods - Available Today! The homes themselves sculpt the site – no other neighborhood in the region offers this unique design. Every resident has generous views from their front and rear windows. With the home angles, even side windows allow view possibilities that rectangular subdivisions simply cannot provide. Unsightly rear yards are screened from passing traffic – further creating a feeling of warmth. Driving along the main street, only the largest single family homes are seen creating a sense of affluence for all families that live within Ridgewood – no matter what their income level may be.

Progress Land Company – Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods - Available Today! With today’s CAD systems the plat (geometric plan) of the 478 homes we have created in Ridgewood could have been easily designed and calculated in less than a day had we used Etch-A-Sketch planning. That’s right, a day. These homes will exist for many generations. Thousands of families will benefit from the attention to design and detail we have commissioned Rick Harrison Site Design to create. Rick is one of the top suburban planners in the World. A winner of Professional Builders Achievement of the Year Award and a National Speaker on Suburban Planning, Rick is the designer of The Ranch at White Hills, a New Town which may be the largest single development currently in the United States and Rick designed our Ridgewood neighborhood. Why build in or live in an Etch-A-Sketch subdivision when you could have the best?

Progress Land Company – Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods - Available Today! The homes themselves sculpt the site – no other neighborhood in the Kansas City region offers this unique design. There is no monotony. Today in a slow housing market, homes being built in coved neighborhoods sell faster. This is a powerful statement as homes that have stronger market base now will also have a stronger resale base – creating homes with better investment qualities. Which would YOU rather call home? Cookie-Cutter Subdivision near Kansas City? Or: the Spacious Coves of Ridgewood?
