The Theory of Reform This theory says that the punishment should try to reform the criminal- “Love thy neighbour”

The Theory of Retribution This theory says that the punishment should reflect the crime. Punishment offers retributive justice - victims of crime want to feel that the perpetrator has not got away with it. “An eye for an eye”

Capital Punishment- For “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed.” (Genisis) “Thou shalt not murder”

Capital Punnishment - Against “Thou shalt not kill” Christianity is based on forgiveness and compassion Capital punishment is biased against the poor Abolition is in line with support for life
