The FARGO® HDP printing – Benefits Versatility and Simplicity of DTC, plus… Brand differentiation with superior, over-the-edge image quality Technology card printing and encoding Best for uneven surfaces of contactless cards Full coverage around contact smart chips Dye based UV printing is more covert DTC is resin based and on the card surface Lifetime printhead warranty In addition to the best image quality in the desktop card printing industry, the HDP is best for printing on cards with any uneven surfaces. Because of the retransfer technology, the image printed is able to contour over the uneven surface. This is especially true for older style technology cards that may have a raised surface due to the embedded chip or antenna. UV printing with the HDP is dye based, which is more covert due to the fact that dye based ribbons fuse into the surface of the card. Resin based ribbons when printed sit at the surface of the card, and when viewed at a certain angle, the resin can be seen sitting on the surface of the card. Having a lifetime printhead warranty for some is reason enough to choose HDP over DTC – especially in higher volume applications. With a price difference in the HDP5000 and DTC4500 of only $796 MSRP (HDP5000 $3995 vs. DTC4500 $3,199 MSRP) and a printhead replacement cost of $699 MSRP, it’s clear that one printhead replacement nearly neutralizes the up front printer price difference.
