Many animals use special adaptations to help them survive in their natural environments. Some animals use a adaptation called camouflage, this helps the animal to stay hidden and unseen by both predator and prey. In this presentation, you’ll get to know just a few animals that uses Camouflage to help them survive in their habitat.

The Snow Leopard has a light gray coat perfect for blending in to the snow. This physical feature helps the leopard catch its prey by ambush. Snow Leopards live in the northern hemisphere of Asia, where there is lots of mountains. Snow Leopards eat Mountain Sheep, however, their favorite food is Blue Sheep. Snow Leopards are shy cats, they take turns patrolling home at night, Snow Leopards are most active at night. The population dropped down to only 5,000 worldwide.

Ocelots have a dappled gray fur with dots that helps the Ocelots camouflage into the forest background. This Tan coat helps the Ocelot sneak around. Ocelots live in the jungles of Peru. Like all cats, Ocelots eat meat, but Ocelots climb trees and catch birds. There is a estimated population of Ocelots 800,000 – 1.5 million world wide. Ocelot can live up to 17 years in the wild 18 years in captivity.

The Arctic Foxes has the thickest fur of all mammals. The fur is smooth and as white as snow. Arctic Fox’s coat turns brown is the spring. Arctic Foxes live in northern states of Canada, Asia, and Europe, they also can be found is Alaska. Arctic Foxes are omnivores so they eat both plants and meat. They will eat Lemmings, Arctic Hares, and even reptiles.

Arctic Hares have a White coat of soft smooth fur. Like the Arctic Fox, their coat also turns brown in the spring. The Arctic Hare has many Physical adaptations like: strong back legs to hop around, sharp teeth to nibble though ice, and sharp claws to dig for food. Arctic Hares eat flowers, and Arctic Willows, they rarely eat meat. They dig shelter in the snow. Arctic Hares are bigger than rabbits.

Well, that’s all. I hope you learned a lot and understand all about camouflage. I also hope I answered some of your questions.
