7, London Rd Manchester 30 December, 2005 Dear Uncle Bill Thank you very much for the French cookery book you gave me. The recipes look wonderful, and I'll certainly enjoy using it. I hope you and Auntie Susan had a good Christmas. We stayed at home, but had a couple of day trips out nearby. Our local theatre put on a production of "A Christmas Carol", which was fun. I go back to University next week, and this year I'm going to have to study hard for the final exams. I've really enjoyed the course so far, but I'm not sure what to do once I get my degree. The University arranges career interviews, but I don't really have a clear idea of what I want to do. Hopefully it will all become clearer during the course of the year. Thank you again for the lovely present, and Happy New Year! With much love Anna

Practice Activity Complete the Graphic Organizer on the board as a class. Prompt the students for correct responses and use their response to fill out the graphic organizer.

Assessment Have the students fill out their own Graphic Organizer individually.

Skip three lines so that you can insert your signature. Print your name as you will sign it flush right.

Stage of Writing Revising Add, Remove, Move around, and Substitute words and sentences.

Editing As you are revising, be on the look out for mechanical errors as well. Make it the best letter than you can!

SAMPLE LETTER 321 Mt. Zion Rd. Valdosta, GA November 20, 2008 Mr. Oliver McDonald, Professional Farmer EIEIO Farms 123 S. Swine Street Quitman, GA Dear Mr. McDonald: Thank you for letting my 5 th class visit your farm today. I appreciated touring your barn and meeting your animals. The suckling pig greatly interested me. I am considering a career in agriculture because I would be able to work with my hands, play with animals, and provide my community with food. I am hardworking, conscientious and dependable, and my elementary teachers will verify these traits. I would absolutely enjoy visiting your farm again. My cell phone number is Please contact me if you ever need an extra hand! Sincerely, Johnny Deere
