Online Teaching Tools Available Scholar Camtasia

Planned or Emergency Cancellations These tools can be used whether you plan for an online class session to replace a scheduled face-to-face session or you experience an emergency cancellation due to weather or instructor personal emergency.

Scholar Tools Available Add a resource for student to read and learn new material ◦ PowerPoints from textbook publisher ◦ Links to newspaper, journal articles ◦ Link to Student Companion textbook website ◦ Instructor Lecture Notes ◦ Websites with valuable content

Adding a Scholar Resource Turn editing on

Scholar Tools Available Create an Assignment or other Activity to help student manipulate material independently ◦ Answer End of Chapter Questions from textbook ◦ Answer “Think about it” Questions from Instructor Resources guides ◦ Student submits chapter outlines or summaries to prove some competency ◦ Student finds current events articles that demonstrate key learning ideas from chapter

Scholar Tools Available Forum Discussions for students to teach each other ◦ Have students provide key point summaries of course material for each other and share in the forum ◦ Students create small video presentations for others to view about course material using Screen-Cast-O-Matic ◦ Create discussion questions over key points of materials to mimic missed face-to-face discussion

Camtasia Video Lectures Instructor records missed lecture using PowerPoint or other visible material ◦ Can provide visual/audio lecture almost identical to lost face-to-face time ◦ Easy to use ◦ Lectures placed in Scholar ◦

Camtasia Use the same username and password as all your Simpson accounts Computer requires microphone for recording Allows you to hold all your recordings on your own computer for future use

Students the Plan Once the class session has been missed (if not pre-planned) then them through Scholar Quickmail with the altered class plan Change the Scholar course page to reflect the changed course plan
