Come and worship the Lord Missions in the Psalms

Psalm 33 Let all the earth fear the LORD, stand in awe of him (Psa 33:8) WHY? – Because He is the creator: “he spoke, and it came to be” (Psa 33:9). – Because He frustrates the plans of the peoples (Psa 33:10 ESV) – Because: the nation whose God is the LORD is blessed! (Psa 33:12)

Psalms God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (46:1) The nations? Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown (46:6 NET) Therefore: Clap your hands, all peoples! (47:1) Because: the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth (47:2) Therefore Give ear, all inhabitants of the world (49:1); do not trust in your wealth (49:6) or in man (v. 7). God rescues life from the power of Sheol (49:15 NET)

Psalm (1) Invite: Shout out praise to God, all the earth! (66:1 NET); Come and see what God has done: (66:5); Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard, (66:8) His people: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, (67:1) Result: that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! (67:2-3); Let all the ends of the earth fear him! (67:7)

Psalm (2) Because: There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. (86:8) Therefore: All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name… For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God (86:9-10)

Psalm (1) God reigns: The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty; (93:1); For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods (95:3); O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve! (94:2) Therefore God’s people: Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!(96:3)

Psalm (2) Tell the nations: The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! (97:1); The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! (99:1); Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! (100:1-2) Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. (100:3)

Psalm (1) The believer: I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! (108:3-5) The nations: From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised! (113:3)

Psalm (2) Why? Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them (115:4-8) Therefore: Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! (117:1)

Psalm Our God: For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. (135:5) [He] struck down many nations and killed mighty kings (135:10) Proper response of kings: All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth, and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD (138:4-5) All creations: Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! (150:6)
