 During WWII, Korea was divided at 38 th Parallel  Soviet Union and United States shared trusteeship  Communism and Democracy

 Both sides wanted to unify under their own rule  1950 – all out war broke out.  USSR backed the North  USA backed the South  United States and UN forces pushed into N. Korea  The Soviets and North Korean troops pushed them back.
