Reading Bass Clef When a bass clef is at the beginning of a piece of music it determines the name of every line and space note. The names of the lines and spaces will NOT change unless the clef changes. Earlier we learned treble clef, but we are changing to bass clef. Since our clef has changed, so will the names of our lines and spaces.
