Research Paper Format & Rubric

When, approximately, did Islam make inroads into your assigned region? Where is your region and important cities that present themselves in your research located on a map? Introduction Overall, how was Islam introduced into your region? What type of diffusion brought Islam into your region: Relocation or Expansion? If it is expansion, then is it contagious or hierarchical? What people or conditions helped the spread or acceptance of Islam in the area assigned? What people or conditions hindered the spread or acceptance of Islam in the area assigned? How did the people of your area help to diffuse Islam throughout the world? Carriers? Diffusion What impact did Islam have on the history, politics, culture, art, and architecture of the area? Be sure that your group discusses the impact of Islam on each of these specifically. Also, you should consider the impact of Islam on your area/region from the time of initial contact to modern day. Impact Consider how your region is a good example of an Islamic nation – how does it showcase the values of the Islamic faith. Also, consider how your area may not be a good example of an Islamic nation – do they have structures or institutions in place that do not uphold the values of the Islamic faith. Conclusion

One paragraph – 7 to 8 sentences Introduce the reader to your region Include in this a description of its historical roots with regards to Islam and its geographical importance to the history of Islam Label a map to include historically significant places in the diffusion of Islam and the impact that Islam has had on your region Introduction

How did artistic traits spread through the Islamic diffusion of your region? #5: Architectural Impact - How was architecture impacted by Islam in your region? How did architectural traits spread through the Islamic diffusion of your region?
