A poem is a group of words put together like a story or a song. Poems are usually divided into verses. A verse is a group of sentences. Sentences in a verse usually end in rhyming words.

What are rhyming words? Rhyming words are words that end with the same letters or end with the same sound. E.g. Cat, bat, hat, mat

In the poem we have 7 verses, each verse is in a different colour and has two sentences. Each sentence in a verse ends with a rhyming word. Like, bow and show. Use a dictionary to find out the meanings of the words you don’t know.

This website has lots of nice poems. 1.Pick a poem. 2.Get a paper and some colours. 3. Write each verse in a different colour, 4. Circle the rhyming words in each verse. 5. After you finish, write down how many verses there are and how many sentences are in each verse.
