Responsibilities Film rights During the "discovery stage" the producer has to find and acknowledge promising material. The producer have to retrieve the film rights. Pre-production The producer has to find an appropriate screenwriter, if the film is not supposed to be based on an original script. The producer is able to order a new version or make the decision to hire a script doctor if there are mistakes. The producer can hire a director if he need. Production Producers can often not personally supervise all parts of their production for many reasons like: Some producers run a company which also deals with film distribution. Cast and film crew often work at different times and places. It is normal that the main producer will appoint executive producers. Post-production The Producer has the last word on whether sounds or music have to be changed or scenes have to be looped The Producer is in charge of selling the film or arranging distribution rights.

Becoming a film producer There are different ways to become a film producer: Some starts as editor or writer & others starts as actor or director. Film schools has some courses are designed especially for future film producers.
