PROJECT UPDATE:DECEMBER 2014 Yicun Xiong #

The Story I am very interested in video relay service (VRS) in USA, but China don't have VRS because the technology isn't advanced in China. As technology progressed and the Internet developed in USA, companies began listening to the deaf community and embarked on the design and production of video relay phones.

The Target Audience P3 Mobilentouch® Mobile DEAFCOMHamilton CapTel Interpret Phone For Deaf Focus Area Video Relay Services Ntouch Mobile, the SVRS® smart phone This is a very simple application You to see every word a caller say on your computer screen. Smart interpret and MYO without interpreter Key features Superior video quality, Video-only mode,3-way calling Share options, including Location, Contacts and Text Voice change text, text change Voice Voice change text, text change Voice Sign language is converted to text and spoken words by MYO User requirement s The interpreters are familiar with business, medical and legal terminology Share options, including Location, Contacts and Text the software can assist in faster communication Text, Voice and screen Heard people listens more clearly Content Video, text and sign language Text, Voice and screen Text, screen, voice, and MYO Strengths High-quality video Amazing video quality with Sorenson HD technology Communication with each other in the same location that is available Standard for translation Communicate clearly Easy to carry Weakness Communication with each other in the same location but that is prohibited Voice is converted to text that don’t guarantee 100% It isn’t the most practical. Voice is converted to text that don’t guarantee 100% Visual Design Simple interfaceUser interface is easy to use Simple interface Lessons Learned It will be very helpful in the communication keep writing text or correspond with friends in English It will be very helpful in the communication Screen

My Solution Every smart phone can support the interpret app and MYO for the convenience of users. The app has two sensors. The first sensor can recognize sign language and translate it into text in the smart phone, which then converts the text to spoken words for hearing people. Second sensor could convert spoken words it into text in smart phone for deaf.

Strengths and Weakness Strengths 1. Smart interpret and MYO without interpreter, it is very lightweight, and easy to carry. 2. A hardware component- the MYO fitted with various sensors and a software component which translates the hand signals into speech in real time, it is very lightweight, because the gloves was phased out. 3. The app design is very simplified. 4. The app has friendly user interface, interpretation functions, easy operation and easy to use. Weakness 1. During the process, the app takes charge of controlling speaking with only the help of audition without feeling and mood, because the feeling and mood were only from people. 2. Sign language is converted to text and spoken words by the MYO, but it cannot achieve higher level of deaf sign language, because the MYO translate the level to be limited if it use American Sign Language, there is a difference between American Sign Language and English Sing Language.

Thank you!
