Sammy By Samantha Welsh

There was once a sweet horse named Sammy. She had a family that loved her so much. They were part of a Renaissance Fair, and they performed every summer through the fall. Sammy was a black beautiful stallion that loved to run but just wasn't good at any of the games at the fair. Every year, the fair would close around winter, and the horses would act just like humans.

Sammy was always alone and would crunch on apples alone on the side of the hill that looked over the fair. Her father named, Brian, wished she would play with more horses or even her brother, Andrew, or her sister, Kelly. She was kind and loved to go on adventures by herself.

The thing is that her brother was always busy trying to learn and practice. Andrew was the oldest. Kelly was always taking care of the other animals at the fair, and she was the youngest. Sammy happened to be the “middle child” and felt alone. She liked it that way.

Now there were three mean horses that would always make fun and bully Sammy for no reason. Sammy would run like the wind from the bullies, Shane, Kate and Mark.

Everyday Sammy would run to a big tree after she lost the bullies in some weeds and she would cry. The bugs and spiders would try and help her, but they could not. Sammy would come home late and just go to bed. Her dad never knew what was happening.

One day the bullying got really bad. Shane, Kate and Mark called her names, threw stuff at her and made her cry. She galloped and galloped until she couldn’t run anymore. No one could find Sammy for the longest time.

Her dad and her brother found her at the side of a lake looking at the ridge of the lake. Sammy was still crying a little. It seemed like her tears were a part of the lake.

Brian, her father, came over, but Sammy got up and moved away. She had stopped crying, and she looked grim. Sammy moved slowly and her father followed. He asked, “What is wrong? Why are you sad?” Sammy never answered.

Sammy finally stopped and told her dad, “Everyday I would go and run away from these three horses that bullied me.” “Listen, Sammy, there will be a lot of horses just like them. Try to stay positive and laugh when they try to make fun of you, and as for the hitting, I will talk to their parents.” After Sammy heard all of this, she was happy.

Brian took Sammy home, and Sammy was her old self once again. Kate, Mark and Shane became Sammy’s friends after she told them they were hurtful. They all played in the fields together and lived happily ever after.
