Complementary Colors Complementary colors are colors across from each other on the color wheel Red – Green Blue – Orange Yellow – Purple They “complement” each other because of there great contrast, which makes looking at these colors visually appealing

Fun Facts About Complementary Colors Lots of Sports teams use these color schemes to captivate your attention to there logo and use that to interest you in there team.

Warm Colors Warm colors are colors that are brighter. Related to warm items Close to yellow on the color wheel RED YELLOW ORANGE

Cool colors Cool colors are darker Related to colder, or calm items Close to blue on the color wheel BLUE GREEN PURPLE

RED Red is the color of power, passion, hatred and love. Attracts a lot of attention Red clothing gets noticed. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red also represents blood, and can be seen as devilish

Fun Fact about Red.. Most United States presidents wear red ties to important events or during pubic speeches to draw more attention to themselves

Orange Orange is very traditional and natural It can also be said that orange is tropical based on its warm color and the orange fruit which it was named after. Orange rooms are very overpowering

Yellow Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism.

Green green symbolizes nature Currently the most popular decorating color It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth.

Blue blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Blue can also be cold and depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty.

Purple The color of royalty, purple shows luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. However, because it is rare in nature, purple can appear artificial.

Brown Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more apt to say brown is one of their favorite colors.

Black Black is the color of authority and power. It is popular in fashion because it makes people appear thinner. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission. Priests wear black to signify submission to God. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains, such as Dracula often wear black.

White Brides wear white to symbolize innocence and purity. White reflects light and is considered a summer color. White is popular in decorating and in fashion because it is light, neutral, and goes with everything. However, white shows dirt and is therefore more difficult to keep clean than other colors. Doctors and nurses wear white to imply sterility.

Color in fashion The image you send every one around you not only reflects your personality but your mood at the time. Darker colors may be slimming, but give a more sophisticated look and can sometimes be more negative. Brighter colors give off a more positive overview and has been researched to not only improve your mood but the mood of those around you.

Food Color The outlook and color of every object determines how you agree or how you possibly determine the taste of that object. If you did not know that this food was exactly the same, would you chose the blue patty or the red patty? Which would you decide as abnormal? The color of each object you touch or consume has been chemically altered to attract you to it, with its shape and color. 8 times out of 10, your food is likely to be a warm color, with the exception of brown.

Is yellow sweet like a banana or sour like a lemon? From casual observations of our own eating we know that the visual 'taste' of food can be just as important as the ingredients in a dish.  Food for Thought  While blue is one of the most popular colors it is one of the least appetizing.  Blue food is rare in nature. Food researchers say that when humans searched for food, they learned to avoid toxic or spoiled objects, which were often blue, black, or purple.  When food dyed blue is served to study subjects, they lose appetite.

Color on Cars POLICE LOVE BRIGHT CARS!!! Such as Red and Yellow, they are eye catching and these cars are most likely to get pulled over. More natural colors such as Dark Blue, Green, Black, and Grey go unnoticed unless the driver is reckless

Color on Animals Animals use colors in a variety of ways To blend into there surroundings To attract a mate To warn others to get away

Color at Home/ Office Spaces Most walls in a home of office space should be in pastels, they are very relaxing and allow you to concentrate on tasks. Grays are recommended if you have lots of bold color already in your home, so you will not over power your surroundings. People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms.

Color in Education Areas Education areas are recommended for a lighter color scheme, to not distract students. Light Purple and light greens are best because they are very natural and keep your attention in a non-alerting way. Blue is not always a good choice because it is very relaxing, and may result in sleeping students.

OH YEAH!
