Early Life Vincent loved to draw as a child Though he did not paint until he was about 20 years old. Grew up very poor Father was a preacher in the Netherlands.

Vincent worked as an art dealer with Theo for a short time Then moved to Amsterdam to pursue painting. We know about Vincent’s adult life because of his letters to Theo.
Often admitted himself to the Sanitarium for mental rest. Usually misunderstood. Painted some of his best work while visiting there.
