Woodcock-Johnson ® III Test of Achievement The Chalkboard Group Members: Adalene Hu, Audrey Chen, Marlena Torkis, Karryn Kam, Lynnette Fang, Toh Jasmine, Jasmine Hung, Pamela Ang, Jasmine Chua, Lee Ningzi

Description Kit: Examiners Manual, Test Books A & B, Technical Manual, Score Sheet. Selected to accomplish various assessment with simple instructions to provide standardized guidelines for the testers. Consists of 22 tests- Standard Test book (1- 12), Extended Test book (13-22). Test comes with a suggested starting point that is grade equivalent.

Norms The authors of this book carried out the test in publics schools, colleges and universities across the different states in America and Canada. Ages 2 years old - over 90 years old. Year Published 2001 (copyright year)

What does it Measures? Oral Language Reading Mathematics Written Language Knowledge Supplemental Scores Intra-Achievement Discrepancies Total Achievement

How it is Measured? The tester gives instructions and ask questions, the child answers the question verbally or gesture. 1 for a correct answer. 0 for a wrong answer. Basal score is 6 consecutive correct answers. Ceiling score is 6 consecutive incorrect answers (end the test). All the items below the basal is correct. Back track when the first suggested question for the grade level is incorrect, until the child answers 6 consecutive questions correctly then continue from the second suggested question (or where you last stopped)

Reliability Recommend that testers are of graduate level of training in educational assessment and a background in diagnostic decision making. Only trained and knowledgeable professionals should make interpretations and decisions. The authors of this book carried out the test in publics schools, colleges and universities across the different states in America and Canada. Technical reliability.

Validity Comparison to other similar tests. Predictive validity for math and comprehension.

Singapore Context Needs language modification e.g. the term: ‘one half’ More authentic questions in child’s context. Not all children’s lap language is English – assessment might be unauthentic.
