Making a video of your business plan presentation Some modest suggestions

Know your audience Presenting your business plan on video means that you will not be face to face with your audience and interacting with the people who are receiving your message. Think about who will be watching the video and how you need to present the information within it.

Organize your notes for your plan What you do not, under any circumstances, want to do is to read the written version of your business plan to your audience (turns out people can read for themselves) Instead, create a well-developed presentation that shows the audience the plan and explains it in an interesting and effective way.

Use images to invoke the BIG PAIN! Dad drops a foul ball!

Create a script from your plan Read from a script if you are narrating over PPT panels (i.e., no video of you, you’re using a microphone) Read from cue cards if you’re presenting directly to the camera – use poster board and have a friend hold them

Develop useful, authentic visual aids Include a PowerPoint presentation in the video Or use a white board with well-drawn notes or charts and graphs. Make sure that the visual aids are effective. Having poor or ineffective visual aids is worse than having none at all, because they can make your entire presentation seem unprofessional.

Use a conversational tone Avoid a monotone presentation, focusing instead of talking to the camera as though you are talking to people who are in the room. Use a friendly, professional tone that is easy to follow.

Practice, practice, practice Or don’t It will be apparent either way
