Finding Percentages. Profits are up by 97%

Percentages and fractions. You should know that : (1) 50% = 1/2 (2) 25% = 1/4 (3) 75% = 3/4 (4) 10% = 1/10 (5) 20% = 1/5

Percentage Calculations. Calculate the following using the simple fractions equivalents to help you: (1) 50% of 300 days. (4) 20% of 45 dogs. 150 days. 9 dogs. (5) 10% of 240 stars. (2) 25% of 48 people. 12 people. 24 stars. (3) 75% of 28 cats. (6) 30% of 750 boys. Find 10% then times By 3. 21 cats. 225 boys.

Calculating Any Percentage. We can calculate any percentage by knowing how to calculate the percentages below: (1) 50% Rule : Divide by 2. (2) 25% Rule : Divide by 4. (3) 10% Rule : Divide by 10. (4) 1% Rule : Divide by 100.

Harder Percentage Calculations. (1) Calculate 42% of £270 Find: Divide by 10. 10% of £270 = £27 10% of £270 = £27 10% of £270 = £27 10% of £270 = £27 Divide by 100. 1% of £270 = £2.70 1% of £270 = £2.70 Add up all the numbers above. 42% of £270 = £113.40

(2) Calculate 87% of 560 people. Find : Divide by 2. 50% of 560 people = 280 ½ of 50% 25% of 560 people = 140 10% of 560 people = 56 Divide by 10. 1% of 560 people = 5.6 Divide by 100. 1% of 560 people = 5.6 Add up all the numbers. 87 % of 560 people = 487.2

What Goes In The Box ? Calculate the following percentages: (1) 26% of 400 people. 104 (2) 65% 0f £2800. 1820 (3) 96% of 1200 days. 1152 (4) 39% of 2400 houses. 936
