Some codecs produce reduced visual quality. Some codecs take a long time to create an AVI movie.

Constant image quality Low latency (good for live video) Resiliency An unlicensed standard Broad compatibility and popular in applications Disadvantages: High bandwidth consumption High storage requirements

+ MPEG: (Moving Picture Expert Group) MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 Compares two compressed images transmitted over network.

+ MPEG2 and MPEG4: Advantages: Constant Frame rate High compression: low bandwidth requirements Low storage requirements and Reduces Processing power Widely used for many applications Disadvantages: Consumes high processing power. Complex compression. Low robustness Less resilient at packet loss Licensing restrictions means no free viewers

+ Codecs A compression-decompression algorithm that looks for redundancy in data files.
