PELL grants are paid per academic year. There are 5 payment formulas: Formula 1 – Used by programs that consistently use standard terms (semester, trimester or quarter) Formula 2 – Used by programs that are measured in credit hours, are divided into standard terms, don’t have overlapping terms, consider at least 12 credit hours per term as full- time enrollment, have an academic year that is less than 30 weeks and grant no education waivers Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators
