Presentation transcript:

I have taught for 14 years, 12 in 6th grade. I have a master degree in Literacy and Reading. My husband is also a teacher and a coach for DeWitt Public Schools. I have 3 children. 2 boys, Jackson and Luke, and one girl, Addison. I also coach varsity softball and that keeps me very busy year round.

 I believe all children can learn!  If they TRY they will not fail!  I believe in creating a safe, comfortable environment where children learn to work as individuals and as part of a team.  I believe attendance, attitude and effort are vitally important to your child’s success.  I believe your child receives the best education when we work together as a team.

 Mini board  Please Turn In…  Daily schedule/ what we are doing

 Assignment board  Absent folder  Check off sheet

2 boxes of Kleenex #2 lead pencils 2 different colored 3 ring binders markers/colored pencils/glue sticks 4 spiral notebooks each with a different color 4 folders each with a different color (The folders and notebooks are very important for organizational purposes.)

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights and on rare occasions, Friday. Assignments should take no more than one hour to complete each night, not including studying for tests and working on projects. I will give students adequate prior notice before tests and quizzes.

I feel it is important for students to realize that students are in the middle school. I also feel the importance of being consistent throughout the year. Therefore, any assignment will be graded as is on the “due” day. Consequently, incomplete work will be graded as it appears when turned in for that day. If the assignment is not at school on the due date, I will only accept it the following day. The highest grade it can receive is 75%.

Our classroom uses Study Island which is a web-based CCS (Common Core Standards) mastery program to enhance our study of mathematics.

Every child will share textbooks in 6th grade, therefore textbooks will not be allowed to go home. The textbook we will be using is available online at The username is: demo The password is: demo1 We will be using the book Issues and Earth Science, Unit A: Studying Soils Scientifically. I will post this information on our class Weebly also.
