GVI Organisation  Global Vision International was formed in Its main goals are to provide support for overseas charities and non-for profit governmental agencies.  From 2007, 70% of all the funds raises from the volunteer work, were spent completely on the projects and charities that they support.

Volunteer in a Kenyan Orphanage  In the vibrant costal city of Mombasa is an upmarket town (Nyali) with very wealthy residences, next to it lies the slum city of Bombolulu, which is home to a very impoverished community.  I will be volunteering at a children's centre. Children who included in this curriculum are either orphans or there family make little to no money.

Schedule  Mornings: Assist with literacy and numeracy education.  Afternoons: One-on-one reading lessons with students who are falling behind. Sports or physical activities.  After Work: Prepare the following days lesson. Bond with the other volunteers  Weekends: Free time to explore and enjoy the town and local areas.

Which social justice issue is being addressed?  Multiple Social Justice issues are being addressed throughout the development of this program.  Access to an education: All children have the right to be educated. Millennium goal number 2, Universal primary education  Providing nutritious meals to undernourished children Millennium goal 1 ‘Eradicate extreme hunger’ and goal 4 ‘Decrease child mortality’

Application process  They ask for your basic and personal details as well as a medical background.  The organisation will then process your application and make sure you are well suited for the specific program.  You can set off as soon or as late as you want.
