Ancestry Indispensable for researching a lot of census returns Some of the sources available: –Census records 1841 – 1901 –BMD registers (not individual records!) –Pallot’s baptism and marriage indexes (London) Subscription and login required Free access at MK Library Local Studies Centre – book an hour’s use in advance by phone:

General Registration Office The place to order BMD certificates Need to work out the GRO reference from the registers to order a certificate for £7 (otherwise higher cost without reference) Login recommended

The National Archives Many alternative sources of information such as: –Wills (available online) –Medal cards (available online) –Manorial records (reference lists) –Immigration records (reference lists)
