Presentation transcript:

 129 Wednesday Audiences about the meaning of life/our sexuality  An illumination of Humane Vitae  John Paul II saw the suffering, joy, desires and the confusion in the world and studied it to explain the value of the human person and how our sexuality reflects our purpose and desire for love

 lived in a time of WW2 so much of human dignity being smeared- by humans.  saw what we are capable of (even in the name of righteousness).  experienced 1 st hand the confusions of humanity when they look at themselves and their desires  constantly saw people asking: Why do I have these desires if I can't use them?

 Its about seeing  what was INTENDED  what WENT WRONG (what the mess really looks like that we live in)  how we begin to FIND WHAT WE WERE MEANT FOR.  See the body not just for what it is, but what it was meant for  The WHY’S not just the HOW’s

“What I attack is the notion that right and wrong should be related simply to the notion of sin, simply to a notion of “thou shalt not,” rather than the real ultimate interests of the human beings involved... I think this search for a new ethical set of moral values based on something other than simply rigid rules set forth many, many centuries ago is something from only which good can come.” – Hugh Hefner “Only true love… is capable of absorbing shame… True love is a love in which sexual values are subordinate to the value of the person.” – John Paul II Shame

 LOVE!  Our desires reveal this  Theology = Study of God  Jesus Christ fully reveals man to himself and really makes his (man's) supreme calling clear.  “Of the Body”  “In the image and likeness of God”
