Presentation transcript:

Salhouse village survey Conducted by Friends of Salhouse Church (FOSC)

Objective of the survey: To find out what activities at All Saints Church would be supported by the residents of Salhouse

Survey Method: 1.Survey forms were delivered to 655 houses in Salhouse by FOSC members. Forms were also left at the school, the Bell, 1 st Impressions, the Jubilee Hall and the Church. Additionally, forms could be completed online at the FOSC website (

Survey method (continued) 2. There were 18 suggested ideas on the form, with space to enter ideas of your own. The respondent could also enter their sex and age range. No questions were obligatory, and the respondent could remain anonymous.

Survey method (continued) 3. We received 64 paper forms and 11 online responses. This is better than 11% response, which is very good for a survey of this kind.

Survey Results The details were entered into a spreadsheet and the results aggregated and plotted. The findings are displayed on the following slides

Other ideas Footpath Enlarged car park Youth club meetings Another Singathon Climbing and abseiling the tower Murder mysteries and Ghost walks Book club or book exchange Knitting group Sale of alcohol

Other ideas (continued) Competitions (eg treasure hunt) Story telling Web tour of the church Art classes Coffee without children Plant sales Folk music Spiritual healing

Other ideas (continued) Cafe Puppet shows Fairs Plays Allotments in the far end of the graveyard

So what is next? 1.We will note which activities have the most support and think of ways to start them 2.We don’t want to compete with the Jubilee Hall, which rules out some of the popular items, but we felt it was important to include them in a comprehensive survey 3.We carry on campaigning and fundraising to get our toilet and kitchen facilities.

THANK YOU FOR COMING! Any questions?
