TEACHING MUSIC IN THE PARTNER COUNTRIES On the basis of the data from Turkey, Romania, Poland and Italy there are some differences in the way music is taught, which is dependent on the type of school, a more traditional or modern approach towards teaching in general within a school, and, what seems also crucial, is the teacher ‘s individual teaching preferences.

TEACHING/LEARNING MUSIC CURRENT SITUATION The curriculum provides mainly 1 hour of music education per week. The skills that are developed at different education levels seem similar. Pre-school - eurythmics, teaching basic, simple songs, also the National Anthem Primary school- learn playing an instrument, mostly a flute, some music theory, learning traditional songs Middle school- more music theory, choir singing, also playing traditional instruments Secondary school- art clubs, sometimes possible building own bands

PROBLEMS Music lessons are most often limited to a minimum of 1 hour per week. Sometimes there are organised some extracurricular classes, which can be much more personalised and oriented towards students’ needs. The level of teaching depends on funds, which refers to buying new instruments to be available at school or providing financial support for musically talented students. Sometimes music lessons are optional, there are no music classrooms, music is connected with art as one subject.

WORKING IN GROUPS Working in groups- Groups have practical advantages social and personal development. They provide more hands to put musical ideas into practice and they bolster the confidence of the individuals within the group.

THE ORFF METHOD Orff Schulwerk is considered an "approach" to music education. It begins with a student's innate abilities to engage in rudimentary forms of music, using basic rhythms and melodies. Orff considers the whole body a percussive instrument and students are led to develop their music abilities in a way that parallels the development of western music. The approach fosters student self-discovery, encourages improvisation, and discourages adult pressures and mechanical drill.

THE DALCROZE METHOD The method is divided into three fundamental concepts - the use of improvisation, and eurhythmics. Sometimes referred to as "rhythmic gymnastics," eurhythmics teaches concepts of rhythm, structure, and musical expression using movement.

THE USE OF A BLOG Students can insert video musical, download musical scores, listen and play on musical bases and to find other information related to the world of the music. A blog is not only a way to learn but also a way to communicate. It is divided in pages and every class has its own page in which they speaks of music and musical videos can be inserted.
