Integrated Solution for Container Terminal Management Solvo.TOS Integrated Solution for Container Terminal Management

Solvo’s History 1992 Solvo was founded. First USA-based projects were implemented in cooperation with RGTI, BDM, TRW, and MARC (MarcGlobal). 1995 Solvo LLC was registered officially in Russia. Solvo independently started to design, develop and implement its own solutions and offer them to Russian businesses. 1999 Completed implementation of two major solutions: Solvo.WMS for Warehouse Management and Solvo.CTMS for Container Terminal Management. 2001 Solvo.CTMS deployed at First Container Terminal sea port, St Petersburg, Russia. 2005 Solvo.DMS container-terminal document management system was released. Solvo’s corporate quality management system was certified for ISO 9001:2000. 2007 Solvo and JDA announced partnership on Supply Chain Control systems market. 2010 Solvo’s staff exceeded the total of 100 employees. Solvo successfully accomplished its strategic plans for the market of Warehouse and Container Terminal Management systems. Presentation Version 4.0 – 23.08.2011

Solvo.TOS Architecture

Interaction between Solvo.DMS and Solvo.CTMS The planning of container transshipments and service providing operations is carried out in Solvo.DMS. Then all the data necessary for executing the work is sent to Solvo.CTMS. The actual terminal operation execution is done under Solvo.CTMS, and all the resulting data is then sent to Solvo.DMS for tracking.

How Solvo.TOS Subsystems Interact Solvo.TOS container terminal information system comprises two basic modules: Solvo.DMS The Document Management System automates the processing and archiving of documents related to containers and vehicles, the reports generation, and all other required operations with documentation. Solvo.CTMS The Container Terminal Management System enables the time-efficient scheduling, execution and control of all operations at the terminal

Integrated Solution Modules

Solvo.TOS Hardware Architecture 1 APPLICATION SERVER The application server runs the job planner designed to process operative events, to optimize jobs to shift containers, and to send jobs to terminal workers (container acceptance workers, container truck drivers, dispatchers, etc.). 2 DATABASE SERVER The database server runs DBMS that stores all information used by the system. 3 STATIONARY WORKPLACES Automated dispatcher workplaces are run on client work stations integrated with both the application server and the database server. The dispatcher is provided with a set of visual instruments that allow him/her to monitor the operative situation at the terminal, make decisions, resolve problems, plan jobs, configure the planning system. 4 RADIOTERMINAL-BASED WORKPLACES Automated radioterminal-based workplaces provide workers with text-graphical forms designed to minimize the manual data input and to prevent input errors while working with radio equipment.

Commercial Streamline Management

Contracts and Documents

Contracts and Documents Data Exchange (UN/EDIFACT): CODECO – Confirmation of entry to, or departure from, the terminal of containers via motor or railroad vehicles CUSCAR – Import cargo manifests (bills of lading) BAPLIE – Unloading list, and container shipboard placement map (export and import) COPRAR – Loading list

Container Terminal Topology Editor The container terminal topology can be changed in the topology editor included in the system.

Container Terminal Topology Editor Each container can be viewed for details and its location within the terminal.

Vessel Operations

Shipboard Cargo Plan Each vessel’s cargo plan can be created by means of a special editor.

Receiving Containers Imported by Vessels

Vessel Entry Plan Maintenance Information on containers to unload and the vessel entry plan are transmitted from the service center to the container terminal.

Unloading Planning The system allows to make an container unloading plan. The unloading plan is transmitted to the crane operator.

Unloading Containers from Vessel Various schemes for unloading containers from the vessel and putting them away to the warehouse are supported in the system.

Container Registration by Tallymen Tallymen perform the registration of containers in the system using radioterminals.

Containers Putaway After the container registration is completed by the tallyman, the system searches for a free location to place the container based on placing rules and strategies.

Reloading Equipment Management The system supports all types of reloading equipment used at the terminal.

Containers Allocation The system issues a work to vehicle operators to place the container in the specified cell.

REF Site Management The system sends works to the refrigerator operator to connect/disconnect REF-containers.

RTG Rows Blocking The system blocks the allocation of containers in cells and rows in RTG stack if the row has any containers to move.

GPS Integration Containers are allocated at the terminal with the use of GPS and container pick-up sensors.

Konecranes C-Pics and Kalmar Smartrail Integration SOLVO.CTMS integrates with vehicle-born positioning systems via RS-232.

Export Containers Forwarding by Vessels

Load Planning

Load Planning SOLVO.CTMS performs automatic planning of shipments by types, weight classes and hazard classes.

Loading Container to Vessel SOLVO.CTMS issues works to vehicle operators to move the container to crane. Tallymen register the loading of containers to the vessel.

Gate Operations

Time Slotting The time slotting technology is used in the management system to regulate load on equipment dedicated to process trucks.

Web Portal The container terminal’s customers can send requests for trucks’ visits via SOLVO’s web portal.

Registration of Truck Visits All required procedures for registering truck visits are done in SOLVO.DMS.

Truck Registration A list of containers to discharge and load, and an assignment to motor platforms are sent from SOLVO.DMS to SOLVO.CTMS.

Motor Platform Registration Using RDTs, tallymen make a description of containers that are put on motor platforms.

Tallyman Acceptance After the tallyman acceptance is over, a tallyman sheet and container examination documents are generated in the management system.

Place the container in a stack Container Repairs If a container is found to be damaged, the management system can perform the following actions: Place the container in a stack Send the container to repair right from the vehicle Place the container in the repair zone Deny the receiving of the container

Motor Platform Discharge Then the system sends a work to reachstacker operator to discharge the container from the motor platform and to put it away to the stocking zone. According to motor platform processing rules, SOLVO.CTMS decides when the motor platform is to be placed to the processing cell. The operator confirms the work completion via RDT and the motor platform moves to the next handling cell.

Move Optimization SOLVO.CTMS minimizes inefficient container moves and allows to cut down vehicle run distance and time.

Loading Containers to Motor Platform (RTG) Solvo.CTMS issues a command to an RPG operator to put the container to a motor platform, and a proactive command to move the next motor platform to the stack cell to minimize RTG downtime. The system sends an SMS-message to the trailer driver to move the trailer to the cell under the stack. Adjacent cells are blocked automatically. Trailers arrive to processing cells. Processing the trailers is done in order of decreasing priorities. Processing priorities are calculated automatically based on various parameters, including the minimization of RTG moves. RTG 20 70 50 30 60

Rail Operations

Receiving Discharge List The train arrives at the terminal. SOLVO.CTMS forms a list of containers to discharge to assigned railroad platforms. RMG

Railroad Discharge SOLVO.CTMS sends a list of discharge works to the RMG operator. The RMG operator discharges the specified containers from the railroad platforms. RMG

Tallyman Registration Tallymen register discharged containers in SOLVO.CTMS via RDTs. RMG

Containers Allocation The system sends works to equipment operators to allocate containers to destination cells.

Receiving Loading Lists The system generates a list of containers to load. RMG

Container Loading Planning Planning Parameters: Platform owner Destination station Platform technical restrictions Hazard class compatibility Weight compatibility Planning Optimization: FIFO by waybill date Platform stuffing by weight

Container Load Planning The system automatically performs the container load planning, after which the dispatcher can manually edit and change the plan.

Supply of Containers The system creates works to supply containers to transfer cell. Tallymen perform the description of supplied containers. RMG

Loading Containers to Railroad Platforms The system sends a work to the RMG operator to load containers to the railroad platform. After the loading is finished, the train leaves. RMG
