INVESTIGATION BY: (Your Name) (______ Police Department) (Picture or Icon Representing Yourself)

 Remember, a HYPOTHESIS is a supposed explanation based on evidence as starting point for an investigation  Based on your prior knowledge and whatever you may know or have heard about the Civil War, delete this text and come up with a HYPOTHESIS here for WHO or WHAT may be responsible for causing the Civil War?. Ex: “Based on what I know, the Civil War happened because…”

 On this slide, paste in 3-4 ACTUAL pictures of atrocities and deaths from the American Civil War. Photography was just emerging during the Civil War  The idea is to make this look like a real case file of a crime scene with photographic evidence  Feel free to use multiple slides for the photos, the more “evidence” the better

 Possible Suspects:  GUIDELINES  (List all possible suspects from today’s investigation. Remember, Suspects can be persons, events, things, or even ideas )  Include small pictures of them as well  GUIDELINES: Evidence, Reasoning, Revised Hypothesis  Write a 75-word Diary of your Investigation and findings for today.  Diary must be written in Police Language & in the 1 st Person  Must include Key Words.  Ex Starter Sentence:  “Today’s investigation proved very interesting. I think I’ve found my 1 st suspect and its ____________. I’m very suspicious of this person because…. (then list all reasons you believe this person/thing to be possibly responsible for the Civil War)”

 On this slide, paste photos of the objects/people you feel to be most responsible for CAUSING the Civil War. In other words, the people or things that you feel should be charged with the crime of killing 620,000 Americans  Then, create a hyperlink to a Word Document that includes the following: 1. A 1-2 page 12 font Letter To the Jury that explains the following  Now that your “investigation” is over, explain all your evidence and recommend all the people/things you feel should be charged with the crime of murder  For every person/thing you list, explain why you feel they should be charged
