The Chinese year has a great history. The Chinese New Year is popularly is known as spring festival because it starts from the Beginning of Spring. The Chinese New Year Festival is the most significant and important holiday in China.

Children get money from their cousin’s parents. On the day before the New Year celebration Chinese families clean their houses. They decorate their home. Family get together for the celebration. Many Chinese families watch CCTV New Year’s Gala in the hour before the midnight. Dumpling are a very important dish. The holidays last 15 days. There are a lot of exciting thing to do. Set off a firework. Wear the proper clothes.

The festival begins on the first day of a new moon and ending with the full moon on the day of the Lantern Festival. Buddha or the Jade Emperor named a year after each of them in the order that they arrived, starting with the Rat, followed by the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat (or Sheep), Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. Cat was not included because the Rat tricked the Cat. The candy tray arranged in either a circle or octagon is called "The Tray of Togetherness. They takes several each and then adult places a red envelop (lai see) on the centre of the tray. Each item represents some kind of good fortune.
