Compassion International Danielle Costlow Colombe Petit de Bantel

Compassion international = non profit organization : What makes us distinct A small amount goes a long way You will have an amazing story to tell Introduction

1. What makes us distinct 2008 Dr. Wydick decided to explore the effectiveness of international child sponsorship.  First goal: comparative look at several child sponsorship organizations, but we were the only organization that agreed to participate.  New goal: researching adult life outcomes of our formerly sponsored children against the outcomes of those who were not part of our programs. Conducted Research

1. What makes us distinct Is there a difference between adults who grew up in poverty and went through our program and adults who did not? six nations between 1980 and adult life outcomes of 10,144 individuals, including:  1,860 formerly sponsored children  3,704 unsponsored siblings  2,136 families in the same communities but who had no family members enrolled in Compassion’s program  2,444 individuals from similar nearby villages that didn’t offer Compassion programs How Was the Study Conducted?

1. What makes us distinct EMPLOYMENT  As adults, formerly sponsored Compassion children were 14 to 18 % more likely to attain salaried employment  As adults, formerly sponsored Compassion children were roughly 35 % more likely to secure white-collar employment The Findings

1. What makes us distinct EDUCATION  Formerly sponsored children were 27 to 40 % more likely to finish secondary education  Formerly sponsored children were 50 to 80 % more likely to complete a university education which component of Compassion’s program was most beneficial ? “educational support” (38.5 percent), “spiritual or character development” (29.4 percent). Compassion’s Child Sponsorship Program = “the great equalizer” The Findings

1. What makes us distinct LEADERSHIP  As adults, formerly sponsored Compassion children were 30 to 75 % more likely to become community leaders  As adults, formerly sponsored Compassion children were 40 to 70 % more likely to become church leaders The Findings

2. A small amount goes a long way

Statistic facts

2. A small amount goes a long way Statistic facts Number of children in the world 2.2 billion

2. A small amount goes a long way Statistic facts Shelter, safe water and health For the 1.9 billion children from the developing world, there are:  640 million without adequate shelter (1 in 3)  400 million with no access to safe water (1 in 5)  270 million with no access to health services (1 in 7)

2. A small amount goes a long way Statistic facts Children out of education - worldwide  121 million Survival for children - Worldwide  10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (same as children population in France, Germany, Greece and Italy)  1.4 million die each year from lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation

2. A small amount goes a long way In a world where more than a billion children live on less than U.S.$2 per day, connecting one child with one sponsor is the most strategic way to end child poverty.

2. A small amount goes a long way Child sponsorship is easy:  Simple to set up  child sponsorship opens up new worlds to you  Learning about different parts of the world  Discovering political and economic realities your sponsored child faces  The joy of helping someone in great need

2. A small amount goes a long way our tax-deductible contribution of just $38 a month connects your child with a loving Sponsorship Program.

2. A small amount goes a long way As simple as a click

On average, how many times does an office worker click their mouse ? The average office worker clicks their mouse around 5,000 + per day. That is over 1,000,000 per year! Enjoy your day. 2. A small amount goes a long way

Make THE click which will make you becoming the hero of a child !

3. You will have an amazing story to tell Exchange and Sharing Experience

3. You will have an amazing story to tell Child sponsorship is about relationship building Sponsor to Child: Sponsors give child a sense of family Warms the heart Pushes them to keep moving forward

A success story through the sponsor’s eyes sponsored-child-compassion-blogging-trip-day-2/ A small amount goes a long way testimonial
