What is Mental Illness? A wide range of disorders that affect mood, thinking, behaviour The major groupings for children / youth: Anxiety disorders Mood disorders including bipolar disorder Schizophrenia/psychotic disorders Substance use and dependency disorders Behavioural disorders Eating disorders Early recognition + appropriate response can minimize the impact of mental illness
