RAP/HIP HOP MUSIC RELIGION - FREEDOM WRITERS - ASSIGNMENT

MUSIC IN THE FILM  Music plays a big role in Freedom Writers.  It sets the mood, tone, and atmosphere of many scenes.  It also helps gives the audience insight into the culture these kids were living in.

A little need to know on music…  Hip hop music is a music genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted.music genrerapping  It can also include beat boxing where an artist would create the rhythm from his voice and mouth.

Characters and Music  The students in the movie seem to know a lot about music.  The music they listen to is relatable and they connect to the feelings that come across in the hip hop music.

Hope in the film  The film captures a broken segment of our culture that is not pretty. While these inner city students faced violence and other real concerns of safety.  These were students without hope.

Creating HOPEFUL HIP HOP  Your assignment is going to be to write and create a hip hop song that could inspire hope for students who faced the same struggles as the freedom writers.
