SCORM to Common Cartridge Conversion – Why? 1. SCORM Package 2. Common Cartridge a.… because only a CC runtime is available, and a SCORM run time is not available. b.… because CC features, such as discussion, web links can be easily added to a Common Cartridge and not a SCORM package c.… because SCORM to CC conversion is a good way to learn about CC features starting from known SCORM content

SCORM to Common Cartridge Conversion – What Happens? 1. SCORM Package 2. Common Cartridge SCORM 2 CC a.… imsmanifest.xml is transformed from SCORM profile to Common Cartridge profile. b.… if there are multiple organizations in the SCORM manifest, only the default is used in the CC manifest. c.… SCORM specific extensions to the manifest, such as sequencing rules are removed. CC has no support for sequencing. d.… any SCOs (learning objects) in the SCORM packages are “wrapped” to prevent the SCO from attempting to search for a SCORM API
